Take a look at this beauty: This is my GORGEOUS KitchenAid Mixer. I just wanted to introduce you all. You’ll be seeing a lot of her on this blog in the future. Here’s one last glamor shot to hold you over until I get some mixer recipes up:

Pay $2, get $25 worth of food

Restaurant.com has been doing this promotion for a while now (changing the promotion code every so often), and although there are a few catches, it’s still a pretty phenomenal deal. There are hundreds of restaurants to choose from, but keep in mind that each restaurant has its own specific restrictions. Some require a minimum spend of anywhere from $30 to $75 (many of which do not include alcohol), others honor these gift certificates Monday through Thursday only, etc. As long as you’re OK with what’s in the fine print, you can’t beat getting a $25 gift certificate for two bucks. The gift certificate are valid within a year of the purchase…

    Another great brunch at Kitsch’n

Kitsch’n is our go-to breakfast spot. In fact, I think I’ve eaten there three or four times in the past two weeks. So much for variety, but what can I say, I love it. We can’t get enough of the Chilaquiles, Green Eggs and Ham (apparently Rachael Ray loves them too) and the boring-yet-always-satisfying Two Deuces and a Jack. YUM). Despite Kitsch’n’s lack of A/C in Sunday’s 90 degree heat, a…

    Save the chairs at Scooter’s!!

Reason #157 why I love Roscoe Villiage: The great local businesses and the loyal neighborhood patrons that love them. Case-in-point: Scooter’s Frozen Custard. This delightful custard shop not only has the best frozen custard around (which my mother, a custard connoisseur from a very young age, can attest to), but it’s also a true gem of a business that brings joy to the whole neighborhood. Among it’s most charming attributes, Scooter’s keeps chairs and dog water bowls out on the sidewalk in front of the shop. They also give away free “doggie cones.” The result  of this hospitality is the nightly gathering of a custard-eating congregation, where neighbors enjoy each…

Joe’s Stone Crab (NOT to be confused with Joe’s Crab Shack)

There could not be better subject matter with which to kick off my blog. Let me start by telling you all a delicious bedtime story: Once upon a time there was a man named Joe. He owned a tiny restaurant with his wife in Miami called (what else?) Joe’s Restaurant. The year was 1921. It was a successful operation—one might say Miami’s first hot spot, long before the pulsating night life of modern-day South Beach. But, oh, the best was yet to come! One day, a marine biologist friend of Joe’s brought a burlap sack to the restaurant, full of curious looking crabs. He wanted to know if Joe had…
